  • Father’s Day DIY Movie Gift Basket

Creating a DIY gift basket for Father’s day is a great way to add that personal touch and get the kids involved in a fun and great-tasting gift for dad. Simply combine all of dad’s movie watching must-have munchies in a gift basket along with his favorite film. Start off by stocking the gift basket with Kernel Season’s popcorn seasonings and popping kernels, then add some beer and daddy-themed sweet treats like remote control cookies and cigar chocolate pretzel rods.

Kernel Season’s Premium Popping Corn

Kernel Season’s Popping Oil

Kernel Season’s Butter Spritzer

Kernel Season’s Popcorn Seasonings (choose dad’s favorite)

Bottles of dad’s favorite beer or soda

Pretzel rods

Chocolate chips

Gold sprinkles

Kernel Season’s Caramel Seasoning

Sugar cookie dough (premade and store bought)

Black icing

A variety of dad’s favorite candy

Bucket or basket

Tissue paper

Scrapbooking letter stickers

First, create your cigar pretzel rods. Melt chocolate chips in a tall glass by placing glass in a large pot filled with water. Place the pot on the stove and turn the heat on low, using a knife to mix the chocolate until fully melted and smooth. *Make sure the water does not come in contact with chocolate at any point.

Next, dip the pretzel rods in chocolate. Before the chocolate dries, shake gold sprinkles and Kernel Season’s Caramel Seasoning on the tip of one end and place on wax paper to dry and harden. While the chocolate is drying, adhere letter stickers (D for dad or the first initial of dad’s name) to a thin strip of paper. Once the pretzel rods have cooled, wrap the letter paper around each pretzel rod using tape to secure the back.

For the remote control cookies, roll out sugar cookie dough and use a knife to cut out rectangles with rounded sides. Bake according to recipe or package instructions. Then set the cookies aside to cool before decorating. To decorate, spread black icing on each cookie with a knife and add pieces of candy, such as M&Ms, sour tape and confetti sprinkles, to represent the buttons.

Remote Control Sugar Cookies

Once the icing on the cookies has dried, you can begin to fill dad’s gift basket. Start off by stuffing the bucket or basket with tissue paper. Next add Kernel Season’s popcorn popping products (i.e. Butter Spritzer, Popping Oil, Popping Corn and Popcorn Seasonings) to the basket. Then slip in a few bottles of dad’s favorite beer or soda pop. Finally top the basket off with the homemade remote control sugar cookies and chocolate cigar pretzel rods.

My father taught me never to give up. He endured a lot of hardships throughout his life and always saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
